The Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Miladin Milojčić, told us about the fifth birthday of the Armed Forces of BiH, NATO membership, experiences gained in regional and global cooperation and priorities in 2010.

Even petty criminals have pre-holiday euphoria and prove extremely active at this time of year. The methods of pick-pockets appear perfect as their crimes are difficult to prove. Witnesses are generally passive and the police lack effective prosecution mechanisms due to overcrowded prisons. Potential victims can do little to prevent pick-pocketing and are left to hope that preventative measures and self-defense will be sufficient.

RETROSPECTIVE 2010

Throughout 2010, Atlantic Initiative’s team actively followed and participated in the promotion of Euro-Atlantic values in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). Our work focused on providing information to the public about democratic processes and security issues throughout the country.

NATO

The new strategic concept of NATO places emphasis on new challenges, such as security in cyber space and the need for modern anti-missile defense.The year behind us was a year of transformation in NATO. The North-Atlantic Alliance is facing new challenges, challenges that differ from those in the past.
